i smell christmas. i feel christmas. but darn it, i am filled with mixed emotions.

how do you casually leave a place that has been your home for a decade?

how do you forget the language that albeit you never fully understood was also something that soothed you and reminded you that you are in a place that is both safe and welcoming.

how do you forget the struggles that were a major ingredient in what you are now and are most likely in the way you will be?

how?

i know this move is not something that i can get over with in a few months.

allan and i are taking a tour of the city on sunday to take photos of places, things and activities that will remind us of our life here.

i am missing thailand already.

the big move is drawing near.  you won’t believe the huge amount of screaming, upsetting remarks and well okay, sometimes fun allan and i have been exchanging/having these past weeks.

this whole packing thing is toxic.  toxic, i tell you!

we have packed clothes and shoes and bags which for a brief moment was really surprising to me.  this occupied almost half of our whole pack.  and they are mostly mine.  considering we have thrown/given away loads of shoes and bags, we are still left with boatloads. he he.

scary.  that’s a good word.  well, in my defense, it is a fact that things unknown are indeed scary.  i know it isn’t like we are moving to mars or anything.  it’s home for crying out loud.  but well home has been thailand for a decade now and home-HOME as in pinas home is something that we need to get used to in the future.

planing and re-planning.  yup.  the number of plans we have had to re-think and junk are getting bigger and bigger.  in a perfect world, allan and i would only have probably 5 boxes to take home max.  and in the same perfect world, all the things we need to set up for work have already been set up.  and yup, in this perfect world, we would already have our car and storms and crazy-heavy wind would never ever think of passing by pinas.  yup.  day dreaming is such a waste of time.

cold feet.  it was my stinking idea in the first place.  one calm afternoon, i announced to a room filled with only allan and me [he he]  that it was high time indeed that we head home.  three or two months ago, this thought filled my head with sun shiny days, silver lining, carebears and smurfs.  but as we come near our operation going home day, i seem to be having lots and lots and did i say lots… of doubts.  it was my stinking idea!!!  i don’t have the right to have doubts!!!!  but i do! i do!  i do have doubts.  someone get me a chill pill, i am panicking here.

excitement.  yeah yeah yada yada.  i must admit. i am very excited too.  i know that after the last box has been carefully taped and after the last name tag has been stuck to that very last box, i would be able to heave a very big sigh of relief.  but two weeks, lots of stuff,  big boxes.  with too much work, one must wonder:

and after.

in my 7 years in udon, i can honestly say that it was only this year [ about 3 times at least] that i found myself quietly saying to myself: ” i love my life”

for whatever we have or don’t have now are the same things that we are truly thankful for.

true, we don’t have the same amount of earnings as when we were both working in a school but time is something that we have and it is also something that money cannot buy.

we are off to chiang mai next week.

oh, i haven’t told you about our previous holiday two weeks ago.

well.  we did not get to do all the things i posted in here.  we did go to the grand palace and koh samui but we skipped on the crocodile farm and well i learned that the sleeping buddha is not located in the grand palace pala he he.

we originally wanted to go to the crocodile farm but reviews said that the place really stank and that the animals were not treated well there.  so i decided against going there.

after the grand palace tour, we went to MBK and Emporium for some serious shopping.  well actually i already bought my mac fix a day earlier but i wanted some more [even though my allowance was already kaput by that time] and when allan said okay, that he will give me extra money for my bisyo then i dragged him to go to emporium he he.

anyhoo, yup we are going to chiang mai next week but only for a couple of days.  this is a really popular destination but to be quite honest i don’t know what we will be doing there.  hotels and guesthouses cost an arm and a leg but well, it’s only for a couple of days so it won’t be as expensive as our trip to samui.

will definitely post something here if i ever find something interesting to do in chaing mai.

i want to go on a european trip next year. hmmm. masigabong ipunan na naman ito.

excited!

highlight of the day:  allan and i were having late lunch at one of the local restaurants in udon.  this restaurant is surrounded by a pond with lots and lots of tilapa and cat fish.  after eating, the waiter approached us and asked if we wanted to feed the fish.  for 20 baht we get a loaf of bread to give to the fish.  it was amazing!  too bad we didn’t have our camera with us.

another highlight:  i finally bought my high cut chucks.  lab lab lab

hala ito daw itsura ng anak namin ni allan if ever. bwahahahaha

a couple of classes left and we are free!!! ha ha, at least for 10 days.

hubby and i are going to koh samui.

we won’t be going to koh samui straight.  we are stopping by bangkok for 2 days for some much needed shopping [make-up!!!]

there are a lot of places that we have never visited as well.  so with this GALA, we will be going to the crocodile farm

next stop would be the emerald palace where the emerald buddha hails [ooh big buddhas give me the creeps.  goosebumps!]

and if we still have time, we will also go to suan siam.  it looks like a fun place to go to!

then maybe some last minute shopping before going to koh samui on the 21st.
